For 2 months following hospital admission for initial implantation; thereafter rate based on underlying heart condition
More than one episode of acute congestive heart failure in the past year, or workload of greater than 3 METs but not greater than 5 METs
Workload of greater than 5 METs but not greater than 7 METs with symptoms
Workload greater than 7 METs but not greater than 10 METs with dyspnea, fatigue, angina, dizziness, or syncope
Medical Evidence
Current diagnosis from a qualified healthcare provider, medical records documenting symptoms and treatment history
Service Connection
Evidence linking your condition to military service (service treatment records, incident reports, or nexus letter)
Personal Statement
Your detailed account of how implantable cardiac pacemakers affects your daily life and when symptoms began
Lay Evidence
Buddy letters from fellow service members or family who can corroborate your symptoms
During your Compensation & Pension exam for implantable cardiac pacemakers, examiners will assess your symptoms against the rating criteria above.
